First of all, apologies for being MIA last week. I would like to say it’s what the mountains do to you. Time seems irrelevant here, truly. But that’s not good enough excuse. I have been thinking of what Rahul (from BlrBusking) shared in our EP/PE chat about feeling the beginning of the end when we are not able to do the one thing we are supposed to do. I have been writing emails for a while, and I have tried different frequencies, monthly, daily, now weekly. My reasons for having a break in between earlier were a lack of two-way communication, it sometimes felt like my mails were going to a non-existent people, which is not the most encouraging thing. Lately, it’s been my mental health. I have been struggling on and off with my mental health for the past two years. It’s been quite the journey and I am learning to teach myself that sometimes just surviving is a victory. In fact, this newsletter was started with the idea of having something to hold on to, something to look forward to amidst these uncertain times. Enough about me, how have you been? How have the past two weeks been for you? Do reply if you feel like, it would feel less like this goes to non-existent people :)
READ
I watched quite a bit of Sesame Street growing up. Combining live-action, sketch comedy, animation, and puppetry, it definitely was unlike any other show during its time. A read about its history and journey since.
DO
I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said Harry Potter has a cult following. From waiting in long queues for the last book to crying through the last movie knowing there would never be anything even similarly nostalgic that would evoke so many memories of our childhood. Rowling has lately been problematic in her stance towards trans people, but this is one instance when I would honestly like to separate the art from the artist. I absolutely despise her comments but I wouldn’t want HP and the magic it brought to so many childhoods to be erased away. And while physical activities seem to be a distant dream now, indulge in this brilliant Hogwarts Digital Escape Room by Sydney Krawiec.
LISTEN
There’s magic in life’s surprises, in its seemingly abnormally normal. 13 tracks of avant-garde pop and dreamy synths and quirky lyrics. And there’s magic here.
As always, any thoughts or feedback are always welcome :)
I always look forward to this newsletter in my mail. I would like you to know that you are sending out good vibes through this and it is well received. I felt really happy reading your mail today after so long. I hope I can contribute something someday.
Sending love xx
