Finding balance

I have desisted using “new normal” around the current situation we all find ourselves in. And on a lot of days have been *this* close to saying “F*ck this sh*t” but I guess we gotta work on the balance someday! Cases are rising in my city, in the country, but we are also “unlocking” (whatever that’s supposed to mean!) but there are also other things that are happening. Work is going on, I have more learning now (as part of World Economic Forum, where I got onboarded earlier this month), there have been some exciting achievements on the personal end AND I turn 24 in less than a week! Phew! It’s been a tightrope trying to figure out how to still experience joy amidst all the suffering around, how to still keep sane amidst all the madness.

P.S. - Even though my self-doubting part is petrified of it, I wanted to share this bit of “news” with you all first. I am working on starting a website for Good Stuff Journal. A community space for creatives, to have a safe space to share, discuss, collaborate, and work together. If you or anyone you know would be interested in working on this together, please reply to this email, and I’ll keep you in the loop. Thank you for all your support <3

Love and light,

DO

Write/illustrate a collaborative novel, live AND in real-time. (Open till 30th June) Initiated by Falmouth’s School of Communication and Boook.land, The Speaking Machine, is an unpredictable, fast-paced storytelling adventure. The project aims to bring together creatives from a myriad of disciplines – from writers to illustrators – and create a conversation about the broader creative industries.

The novel even opens with a sentence from the university’s chancellor, Dawn French, “We hope the Boook.Land experience demonstrates the power of collaboration and unrestricted creativity.” Participants (currently 946 from around the world) continue the story using only the last few paragraphs for reference, as well as illustrating the book as it's written.

This weekend on "Everyday People/People's Everyday" we have with us a serendipitous encounter that led me to this gem of a person, Rahul (@blrbusking ).⁣
⁣
Rahul is a UX/product designer by profession, and loves delving into the deep side of research oriented design solutions. On Saturday evenings, you can find Rahul (and a bunch of other lovely folx, hey @wulfbiscuits, @nisshtha12, @pagesweturned, @shama.farheen, @cipun.mishra)with his typewriter, making and sharing poetry, outside Bengaluru's iconic book store, Blossom Book House. This Sunday evening we pick Rahul's brain about busking in India, the unique experiences around it, the love for vintage typewriters and design oriented solutions, and sustaining a community. ⁣
If you have any questions for him, do drop it in the comments here or during the live session.⁣
⁣
See you all on the 28th at 8 PM IST!
